Recreation Leader 2 (sports) Position Overview The City of Maple Ridge is actively seeking enthusiastic and responsible Recreation Leader 2 professionals to join our team and provide a fun and safe experience in our programs. As a Recreation Leader 2, the incumbent will play a vital role in supporting our leaders and assisting in the delivery of fundamental movement skills, sports-specific games, outdoor recreation & conservation, while ensuring that all participants feel included and engaged. The City of Maple Ridge is particularly interested in candidates who have a genuine passion for working with children, youth, and families. A strong knowledge and experience of various sports, including Soccer, Floor Hockey, Basketball, and Baseball, Volleyball, Lacrosse, Fishing, Hiking, & Foraging will be highly valued in this role. Equally important are excellent communication skills, as effective interaction with participants and fellow team members is integral to creating a positive and supportive atmosphere. By joining our team as Recreation Leader 2, you will contribute significantly to the success of our recreational programs, fostering a memorable and enjoyable experience for all involved.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Completion of Grade 10 supplemented by courses related to the work, plus some related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Standard First Aid and CPR – Level C
HOURS OF WORK Hours of work are governed by Schedule B (C, J) of the Collective Agreement alongside the Letter of Understanding for Workers in Children's/Youth Services and Recreation Access.
This is an Auxiliary position with no ongoing schedule of hours.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Please note that staff will be required to have a flexible work schedule to work evenings and/or on weekends.
