DUTIES

Thompson Rivers University launched a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Applied Data Science in September, 2023. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking to hire a highly qualified individual for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to teach in the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Applied Data Science Program.

Duties include teaching courses in this program such as Introduction to Statistical Data Analysis, Data Visualization and Manipulation through Scripting, Regression for Applied Data Science, Design for Data Science, Multivariate Statistics for Applied Data Science, and Simulations for Modeling, Optimizing and Analysis.

The successful candidate will also be expected to establish an independent research program and to supervise student research and projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Candidates must hold a PhD in Data Science or Statistics or a closely related field, from a recognized university.
2. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience in Data Science. Potential for excellence in teaching is required.
3. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in scholarship and an independent research program, or the potential for such.
4. Preference will be given to those candidates who provide evidence of industry experience directly related to Applied Data Science.
5. Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English
