Direct Service (OPSEU)
Part-Time, Contract (up to 6 months)

The Back on Track program is a provincially mandated program for convicted impaired drivers and for drivers charged with two or more provincial alcohol and/or drug-related suspensions. The program is overseen by the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health and operated locally through CMHA TVAMHS.

The Back on Track Facilitator is responsible for providing all aspects of the remedial measures program including the assessment, education, and treatment sessions and the follow up. The Facilitator needs to have a thorough understanding of the current legislation as it relates to impaired driving and prohibitions and the guidelines from the Ministry of Transportation with respect to suspensions, license reinstatement processes and interlock conditions.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:
  • What you’ll be making: Starting rate for this role is $26.74per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($29.57per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):
    • Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
    • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($33.90 per hour for non-regulated, and $36.71 per hour for regulated)
    • For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
  • When you'll work - 35 hours biweekly; rotating days, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts
  • Your pension plan –Optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
  • Appropriately screen individuals for the remedial measures program
  • Follow up with clients and answer questions regarding their next steps in the process
  • Provide services in person, virtually via videoconferencing or telephone about the Back on Track program
  • Utilize the standardized provincial assessment to determine a client’s suitability for services and to determine if education or treatment sessions are required
  • Provide education to clients regarding a variety of coping techniques and strategies to avoid future impaired driving
  • Provide education and deliver presentations to community
  • Follow up with clients after the completion of the education and treatment programs to assist in the completion of the 6-month follow up
  • Manage indirect services and administrative duties
  • Maintain awareness of and adherence to organization policies and protocols
  • Attend and actively participate in team meetings and case conferencing meetings where appropriate
  • Contribute to a positive team environment
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:
Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements
Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

We require the following qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education on social services or related field, e.g. Adult education, BSW, or post-graduate diploma in addiction or equivalent ( Primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process, i.e. original degree/diploma/certificate or official transcript)
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance to carry out job duties
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
  • A professional designation such as BSW, MSW, RN, RPN, OT or Counsellor and registration with the corresponding college preferred
  • Current knowledge of impaired driving legislation
  • Current knowledge of Ministry of Transportation guidelines with respect to reinstatement of driver’s licenses
  • Proficient knowledge of Blood Alcohol Concentration/Levels
  • Dynamic presentation skills with clinical background of issues related to addiction
  • Experience working in the criminal justice system and with community and health care organizations
  • Familiarity with a Harm Reduction approach to client engagement and treatment
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Crisis intervention and prevention training
  • Applied Suicide Interventions Skills and Training
