What you'll do
It's safe to say, there's no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key accountabilities of the role:
- This position is responsible for the annual program management of TJX Canada's benefits, retirement, and paid time off programs and policies. This position will also support the development of recommendations for program enhancements, and manage implementation plans for changes to corporate policies and procedures in alignment with business strategy and legal requirements.
- Responsible for planning and implementing annual program renewal review processes; identifies continuous improvement opportunities within benefits program performance, processes and spend to inform program enhancement recommendations with focus on cost savings. Participates in the ongoing development of the TJXC Benefits governance model.
- Accountable for managing requests and escalation of inquiries, making recommendations to COE Leadership on policies such as: Associate Discount, Paid Time Off (Vacation, Floater, Sick Days), Benefits eligibility, life events, etc.
- Conducts ongoing internal and external research and analyzes data and information to assess, identify and present trends, regulatory changes, opportunities, and solutions; stays current with best practices and shifting market landscapes.
- Partners closely with Internal Communications to develop and roll-out of program communications that ensure COE key messages are represented. Builds collaborative relationships to ensure the overall delivery of department programs and processes, while also engaging as an active team member within Global Total Rewards, partnering on various global programs and projects.
- Partner with vendors on outsourced programs to ensure vendor performance meet Company requirements and service level agreements.
- Works closely with Leadership to prepare materials and recommendations for the Canadian Pension Committee, including analysis of plan participation and contribution rates.
- Mentors and provides guidance to direct report to elevate and build analytical skills. Acts as a key resource to answer questions and discuss best practices; supports development of team talent plan through talent assessment, IDPs, performance reviews, and action plans.
What you'll need
To begin your career with us, we require the following:
- A minimum of five (5) years professional experience as a Benefits or Total Rewards professional in combination with post-secondary education in related field; a completed Certified Employee Benefits (CEBS) designation is an asset.
- Strong progressive knowledge and analytical experience in group benefits, disability (STD/LTD), retirement, and paid time off programs.
- Strong consulting skills with proven ability to analyze a range of quantitative and qualitative information for use in developing programs and solutions that meet organizational needs; demonstrated ability to be creative, resourceful, and pragmatic with a solution-focused attitude.
- Advanced problem-solving skills including identification of issues, analysis of information; emergency problem solving (i.e. 'crisis' management); providing support to HR department, cross-functional business partners, external vendors, and COE team to develop solutions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills. Strong ability to develop working relationships with internal and external partners, build credibility and respect, challenge current thinking and provide advice and guidance to all levels of Associates.
- Highly developed program management skills with the ability to determine specifications and maintain detailed project plans. Must be able to manage multiple projects and maintain a high sense of urgency.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications with the ability to manipulate and manage large data sets.
