Bricklayer - First or Second Year Apprentice Location Langley, BC :

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Bricklayer/Mason Apprentice that is First or Second Year to assist in chimney repair and act in the swing role between assistant to the lead hand and as a labourer.

The ideal candidate would be a first or second year apprentice, have some bricklaying experience (laying brick, jointing etc) and be willing to labour while gaining experience in chimney repair, flashing installation and other varied tasks associated with the chimney repairs and rebuilds our company undertakes.

You must be physical fit, able to take direction and have strong organizational skills to manage the ground work required to help assemble and disassemble scaffold, mix mortar, cut flue liners and anticipate procedures to have tools and material ready for delivery up the pulley system.

Duties

• Assist Lead Hand on chimney repairs: Laying bricks, jointing, mixing mortar, cutting flue liners and metal flashing, prepping tools
• Load and unload materials and tools from vehicles
• Assist assembling and disassembling scaffold
• Measure and cut other materials depending on project
• Load tools and material into buckets for delivery on pulley system
• Listen and respond to instruction from lead bricklayers on the scaffold
• Organize and clean vehicles and job site

Requirements

• Be a first or second year apprentice in the trade or equivalent experience
• Being a good listener and able to take direction
• Previous experience in construction or labouring outdoors is an asset
• Excellent physical stamina and strength for lifting heavy materials up to 70lbs
• Attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
