Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced digital and social media member to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in all major social media platforms and possess a deep understanding of the unique audiences each platform caters to. This individual should stay ahead of industry trends and be strong at adapting our social media strategies accordingly. This candidate should be a driven content creator, with video capturing and editing skills. The role requires availability during all Ottawa Black Bears games (home and away) to support and grow the team’s digital and social presence. Proficiency in both official languages and understanding of the National Lacrosse League is a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage our social media strategy across all major platforms, including but not limited to Meta, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Create, curate, and manage engaging content (text, image, and video) that aligns with the brand's voice and strategy.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance of social media campaigns using analytics tools, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize results.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, platform updates, and industry news, and integrate relevant insights into the social media strategy.
  • Engage with online communities, responding to comments and messages promptly, and fostering positive interactions with our audience.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align social media content with broader marketing campaigns and company objectives.
  • Manage social media advertising campaigns, including ideation, targeting, and performance analysis.
  • Provide recommendations for new social media initiatives to drive brand awareness, engagement, and conversions.
  • Write and deliver content on brand message via social channels and Ottawa Black Bears email database
  • Support in coordinating and capturing Community engagements including, but not limited to mascot appearances, school visits
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends as required to support the brand’s social media activities during peak times or in response to emerging trends and events.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Social Media Lead or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful social media campaigns.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and tools, including but not limited to Meta, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Knowledge of audience demographics and behavior patterns across different social platforms.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Box Lacrosse, the National Lacrosse League and key stakeholders.
  • Experience with content creation, including graphic design and video editing skills (Adobe Suite).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret social media metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and interact with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends; some travel required.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a significant asset.
