Thales Defense & Security, Inc. has an opening for an intern within the Information Technology department’s Cyber Security team for 8 weeks during the summer of 2024. This position will be responsible for some entry level assignments that will provide exposure to the Cyber Security career field. This position is located in the Clarksburg MD office and reports to the Manager of Cyber Security. This position will largely entail remote and on-site support of all Company Cyber Security systems.

The Cyber Security intern will be given the opportunity to learn and participate in the following activities.

• Ensure compliance with corporate cybersecurity policies and procedures.
• Support the implementation of network and computer security.
• Implement software fixes (patches) to remove system vulnerabilities.
• Perform security assessments of applications and systems using penetration and vulnerability testing and risk analysis.
• Configure and troubleshoot network and endpoint Cyber Security tools.
• Review security logs and analyze alerts for indications of compromise.
• Investigate intrusion incidents and conducts forensic investigations.
• Respond immediately to cybersecurity-related incidents and provides a thorough post-event analysis.
• Complete all tasks as assigned by the Cyber Security Manager.
• Research and identify Cyber Security trends and best practices.

• U.S. Citizenship required. - Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college and have completed at least 1 semester within the Cyber Security or related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communications – Fluent in English.
• Detail oriented.
• Exhibit excellent work ethic and commitment to job responsibilities.
• Must be a self-starter, with ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
• Knowledge of Cyber Security principles.
• Required skills: problem solving, analytical skills, time management, Microsoft Office.
• Passion for the defense contracting industry with interest and enthusiasm for a career with Thales Defense & Security, Inc.
• Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs with or without assistance.
