Position:   DanceBUG Mascot Performer and Handler 
Duration: March - July 2025 (Seasonal contract with potential for extended contract work)
Location: Primarily Toronto, ON and surrounding area with the potential to travel across Canada.

Role Overview:
Are you passionate about dance and ready to take your performance skills on the road? DanceBUG is seeking an enthusiastic and talented individual to become our DanceBUG Mascot and Handler! This is a unique opportunity to travel around Ontario (and potentially across Canada), making memorable connections at competitive dance events.

Key Responsibilities:
As the DanceBUG Mascot Performer, you will:
  • Engage Audiences: Interact with dancers, parents, studio owners, teachers, competition directors, and staff, creating a vibrant and positive atmosphere.
  • Perform and Connect: Bring the DanceBUG character to life with high energy and professionalism, ensuring memorable experiences for all attendees.
  • Create Content: Create authentic interactions for photos and videos that highlight the joy and excitement of the DanceBUG experience.
In your role as a Mascot Handler, you will:
  • Assist with Costume: Help the performer put on and remove the mascot costume efficiently, ensuring everything is secure and comfortable.
  • Guide Navigation: Lead the performer to and from appearance areas, thoughtfully managing routes to avoid obstacles.
  • Communicate Effectively: Serve as the voice of the non-speaking mascot, engaging with the public and responding to questions, especially from children.
  • Manage Crowds: Facilitate orderly lines for photo opportunities and ensure smooth interactions, maintaining a fun atmosphere.
  • Monitor Schedules: Keep track of appearance times and breaks, communicating effectively to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Ensure Safety: Stay aware of the environment to protect the mascot performer, addressing any potential issues calmly.
  • Create Content: Capture authentic interactions with photos and videos that highlight the joy and excitement of the DanceBUG experience.
Qualifications:
  • Drivers License required
  • Regular access to a vehicle is an asset
  • Strong dance and acting skills are essential
  • Quick to learn simple choreography (e.g. Tiktok dances)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with a love for children and spreading joy
  • Responsible, punctual, and a great team player
  • Must be available to work weekends (Friday-Sunday) from March 1 to July 15, 2025
  • Potential for some mid-week events (Wednesday and Thursday)
  • Willingness to travel (by land or air)

Compensation: $250/day ($100 for travel-only days)
