Description The
Disaster Recovery Project Manager is responsible for the overall management of restoration and reconstruction projects following disasters such as fires, floods, storms or other catastrophes. This key role involves planning, organizing, coordinating and supervising the work required to restore damaged properties. The Project Manager must ensure that projects are completed to quality standards, on time and within allocated budgets. This position requires excellent relationship management with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.
Responsibilities •Travel to the disaster site to assess the extent of the damage, identify the work required and develop a detailed action plan.
•Prepare accurate cost estimates for restoration and reconstruction work, taking into account client needs and insurer requirements.
•Develop a detailed work schedule, allocate the necessary resources, and ensure that all stages of the project are well planned.
•Supervise and coordinate site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that work is completed efficiently and in accordance with quality standards.
•Maintain regular communication with clients to inform them of progress, answer their questions and adjust plans according to their needs.
•Conduct regular site visits to ensure that work is completed in accordance with specifications, quality standards and applicable regulations.
•Monitor progress of work against schedules and budgets, identify potential risks and take corrective action in the event of delays or cost overruns.
•Prepare regular reports on the progress of projects, document changes made, and ensure full traceability of work completed.
•Ensure that all safety measures are in place on sites to protect workers and minimize risks.
•Ensure that all work is completed to the satisfaction of the client, organize final inspections, and prepare project closeout files.
•Work with insurance adjusters to ensure a hassle-free experience for the insured when a claim is filed.
•Perform any other related tasks.
Requirements •Degree in construction management, architecture or a related field, or any other combination of education and experience.
•Experience in construction or restoration project management, ideally in the post-disaster sector.
•In-depth knowledge of building components and standard construction techniques.
•Knowledge of insurance regulations and protocols, an asset.
•Have a good knowledge of insurance claims procedures, an asset.
•Good understanding of disaster restoration techniques, reconstruction processes and safety standards, an asset.
•Excellent ability to communicate with clients, internal teams and subcontractors.
•Experience with project management software (such as MS Project, Primavera) and office tools (MS Office), an asset.
•Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while respecting deadlines and budgets.
•Have a valid driver's license.
•Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Be autonomous, organized and meticulous, demonstrating rigor, having a good sense of initiative and concern for a job well done.
•Good ability to establish and manage expectations.
•Works well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
