Education Manager Location Rosedale, BC :

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Education Manager to oversee and manage educational programs within our band. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating educational initiatives to ensure the highest level of learning outcomes for band members.

The ideal candidate will plan, coordinate, and deliver educational and employment programs, as well as support services for beneficiaries in K-12 public schools and post-secondary institutions. This role will operate in alignment with the Cheam Education Policy, working to exceed current funding limitations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement educational strategies and programs to meet band goals
  • Manage and allocate budgets for educational projects effectively
  • Conduct research to identify trends and best practices in education and how it affects the band.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the education team
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align educational programs with band objectives
  • Write reports, proposals, and educational materials as needed
  • Assess and ensure compliance with grant requirements and program delivery.
  • Research and write funding proposals; ensure timely submission.
  • Monitor contracts and reporting deadlines; reconcile revenues and expenses.
  • Prepare budgets, variance reports, and manage departmental purchases.
  • Develop community resources and integrate programs with other Cheam departments.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Band Membership and external partners.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive clientele records database, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
  • Actively research and seek additional funding to provide educational support above and beyond the requirement of ISC.
  • Provide and facilitate skill and development training for community members.
  • Keep and up-to-date record of band members education and training.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field;
  • 3-5 years proven experience leading and delivering educational program/services within a Nation.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge, respect, and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions, and language is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nations family dynamics and issues; and ability to develop trusting and positive relationships with Cheam First Nation Band Members and their families.
