Key Responsibilities: 

  • Electronic device configuration and programming both in a laboratory setting and a field setting.
  • Assist with client needs analysis and developing technical project scope. 
  • Managing administrative and operational aspects of metering system maintenance programs, including both off and on-site support to field personnel. 
  • Manage all aspects of the meter exchanges, meter configuration, testing, and sealing. 
  • Completing electrical metering system design. 
  • Testing and programming of cellular modems and auxiliary devices. 
  • Specifying and purchasing equipment. 
  • Maintaining equipment inventory (includes shipping and receiving). 
  • Ensuring Health and Safety compliance. 
  • Shipping/Receiving and general tasks as required. 

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Solid understanding of electrical theory and hands-on wiring experience. 
  • Strong asset : Base-level experience and interest in utility metering system regulations and practices, commercial/industrial electrical installations, metering concepts, principles, and typical installations
  • Experience in AutoCAD, ION Enterprise, and ION Setup is an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical field, e.g., Electronics/Electrical Engineer/Technologist, Metering Technician, Utility Distribution Foreman/Lineman.
  • Successful completed of an Electrical Engineering Technology or similar program a very strong asset.
  • Background in three-phase power is an asset. 
  • Experience with data acquisition technologies and protocols. 
  • Proficient with MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and Visio. 
  • Knowledge of applicable provincial Health and Safety standards, i.e., OHS, Alberta Electric Utilities Code, WHMIS, CPR, and First Aid. 
  • Familiar with the latest provincial energy programs, technologies, and work management systems as it relates to metering. 
  • Valid Class ‘5’ Alberta driver's license, driver’s insurance, and an excellent driving record. 
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A self-starter who can prioritize and solve problems independently.
