Overview:
A well-established and growing construction firm in Victoria is seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Estimator to join its team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in residential and commercial construction, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to delivering accurate and competitive project estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to develop detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
Prepare quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns for materials, labour, and equipment.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure completeness, accuracy, and competitiveness.
Collaborate with project managers, clients, architects, and consultants during preconstruction and design phases.
Assist in the preparation of tender submissions, budgets, and change orders.
Maintain up-to-date cost databases and historical pricing records.
Conduct site visits to assess project requirements, constraints, and potential cost impacts.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in a construction estimating role, preferably in both residential and commercial sectors.
Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, MS Excel, PlanSwift) and construction documentation.
In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and building codes.
Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
