Job Description

Ready to grow your horticultural career? Dennis' 7 Dees is seeking an experienced garden center professional to join our Seaside location as Assistant Store Manager.

As our Assistant Store Manager, you'll partner with the Store Manager to deliver exceptional customer experiences while developing and leading our talented team. You'll gain hands-on experience in all aspects of retail operations – from inventory management and merchandising to financial oversight and strategic planning – while stepping into the manager role during their absence.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead by example to maintain exceptional customer service standards
  • Oversee inventory management, including receiving, merchandising, and plant care
  • Develop team members through hiring, training, coaching, and performance management
  • Monitor store financial performance and contribute to budget planning
  • Create inspiring product displays that showcase seasonal beauty and spark customer imagination
  • Collaborate on strategic initiatives to drive store growth
  • Step in wherever needed, especially during peak times and training opportunities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and positive work environment

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of horticultural experience required
  • Garden center or similar retail experience preferred
  • Strong plant knowledge and horticultural care expertise
  • Passion for gardening and delivering excellent customer service
  • Leadership potential with enthusiasm for developing others
  • Ability to learn retail software systems quickly
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Weekend availability is required

Work Schedule and Environment

  • On-site position at our Seaside, OR location
  • Hours of operation: 9am-5pm 7 days per week
  • Full-time (30-40 hours per week), with more hours required during peak seasons
  • Allergy note – there are two cats living on the garden center premises

  • Wage is $20-22 per hour, dependent upon experience
