JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Gastroenterology Division Head and the Medical Director for the area, the gastroenterologist investigates, diagnoses, and manages conditions affecting the digestive system, including the liver and pancreas. The gastroenterologist provides care to patients with a broad range of conditions affecting the digestive system.

The gastroenterologist performs consultations for patients in urgent, pressing, and non-urgent situations. The gastroenterologist performs digestive endoscopic procedures for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes and provides immediate and long-term medical management or monitoring for conditions affecting patients.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Recognized certification in gastroenterology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada;
  • Degree from a recognized medical school and residency granting a licence in internal medicine;
  • A recognized medical school is a school that meets the following criterion:
  • Accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the United States);

OR

  • Listed in the with a note for Canada under the Sponsor Notes tab.
  • Fellowship in gastroenterology considered an asset
  • Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick;
  • Active member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association;
  • Member of the New Brunswick Medical Society;
  • Privileges with Vitalité Health Network;
  • Registration with New Brunswick Medicare.
  • Experience (one to three years) considered an asset.
