What We’re Looking For:

The Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) is recruiting to fill a Legislative & Political Action (LPA) Session Aide position located at the LPA offices in Olympia. Reporting to the Director of LPA, the LPA session aide supports the Legislative & Political Action department by scheduling legislative appointments with Washington state legislators for our member lobby program, setting schedules and agendas for each lobby day during the legislative session, and being the liaison between WFSE and 147 legislative offices. Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License, access to a reliable vehicle, automobile insurance, and the ability to travel are mandatory conditions of employment.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

Tracking and managing data regarding the LPA member lobby program.

Updating our 2026 Legislative Toolkit, a comprehensive document that provides information and guidance to our members and staff about the legislative process and meeting with legislators.

Strong oral and written communication skills. Continual communications with the LPA organizer and lobbyists about the needs and contents of each legislative appointment.

Meticulous attention to detail.

Ability to work under pressure.

Interacting with our union membership.

Required Qualifications:

At least 6 months of general administrative experience, preferably in a political or labor union setting.

Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License, access to a reliable vehicle, automobile insurance, and the ability to travel are mandatory conditions of employment.

May be called upon to carry and move up to twenty (20) pounds; participates in activities requiring extended periods of standing and sitting indoors and outdoors.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Able to communicate effectively via phone and email, along with continually monitoring scheduling status.

Strong interpersonal skills, interacting with large groups of people.

A willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.

Ability to work independently.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related applications.

Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient with remote meeting software such as Zoom, Teams, etc.

Other Duties as assigned.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience working in a labor union.

Two years of administrative experience.

Special Note:

This position is overtime eligible.

Selected candidates are expected to live within commuting distance of their assigned work location within Washington state.

Travel is usually limited to the designated area of responsibility.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, use of a personal vehicle, and valid vehicle insurance.

A motor vehicle report and a background check will be conducted as a condition of employment.

This position works a 20 hours per week

This position is eligible for overtime and may be required to work some weekends.

This temporary position is expected to last from January 2026 through March 2026. The hourly wage is set at $35.39 per hour.
