Senior Project Portfolio Manager | Lead Portfolio Strategy Across IT & Operations (Japan)

We're looking for a Senior Project Portfolio Manager to bring strategic clarity, structure, and leadership to a growing portfolio of IT and operational initiatives in Japan.

This is not a hands-on project execution role. Instead, you'll be the central point of portfolio oversight, guiding how projects are prioritized, governed, and delivered across the organization. You'll be responsible for developing local project portfolio management processes and templates, based on global best practices - tailoring them to suit the Japanese business environment.

This is a high-impact role where you'll partner with business leaders, delivery managers, and global teams to ensure project success is measurable, structured, and aligned with strategic goals.

What You'll Do
* Develop and maintain Japan-specific portfolio frameworks, templates, and reporting tools using global best practices as a foundation

* Monitor portfolio health: progress, risks, schedules, budgets, and resource capacity across all initiatives

* Partner with stakeholders across business and tech to drive project governance and accountability

* Facilitate clear communication of portfolio status and risks to senior leadership

* Identify and drive process improvements to enhance transparency, prioritization, and delivery consistency

* Occasionally lead select high-priority or complex initiatives at a strategic level

What We're Looking For

* 10+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in project/portfolio management roles

* Proven ability to build portfolio governance structures and templates from the ground up

* Strong understanding of project lifecycle governance, reporting, and change frameworks

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience influencing senior leaders

* Proficient in tools such as MS Office, Teams, Jira; familiarity with dashboards and reporting tools

* Fluent in Japanese and English (business-level; JLPT N1 or equivalent required)
