You'll join a collaborative group of Japan-based data experts and commercial professionals. While you'll be the first software engineer in Japan, you'll never be alone-our local and global teams work hand-in-hand to deliver results.
Be hands-on with a cutting-edge, AI-powered SaaS platform that's already making a difference for major insurance companies. Your work will directly impact the lives of millions of policyholders, helping them get faster and fairer claim resolutions.
Work closely with a talented, international engineering team (mainly UK-based) and our Japan-based data and commercial experts. You'll bridge Japan and the global team, influencing product direction and customer success.
Build and scale with the latest tools:
-Python for application development
-Terraform for AWS infrastructure provisioning
-Kubernetes (with Helm and Flux) for managing services
-GitLab for CI/CD and version control
-AWS as our infrastructure platform
-PostgreSQL for application data and event sourcing architecture
-Apache Flink for real-time service interactions and state management

Utilizing advanced technologies like NLP and Optical Character Recognition, they enable insurers to settle the majority of claims in real time, dramatically improving efficiency and customer satisfaction.

• The Role
Build, enhance, and support internal tools and customer-facing features for a complex, AI-powered SaaS platform
Collaborate with local and global teams to deliver solutions tailored to Japanese enterprise clients
Lead product improvements based on direct customer feedback
Own the software lifecycle - from design to deployment and beyond
• Your Skills
Experience building backend systems for SaaS products (Python preferred)
Hands-on with cloud environments (AWS or similar)
Strong REST API and RDBMS (PostgreSQL) skills
Fluent Japanese and business-level English
Already living in Japan with a valid working visa (applications from outside Japan cannot be considered)
Self-starter who thrives in an independent, remote-first role
