Site Reliability Engineer

About the job:
The Site Reliability Engineer will work on designing, developing, and maintaining reliable and scalable cloud-based applications and infrastructure. You will participate in the rapid development, deployment, and monitoring of applications and services, focusing on system reliability, performance, and availability. Key tasks include implementing SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) practices at both team and enterprise level, improving operational metrics, and contributing to cloud migration initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
- Hands-on development in Java (required), plus Python (3-4 yrs experience)
- Cloud application and infrastructure management (AWS, EC2, Fargate, CloudFormation, RDS, ElasticCache, S3)
- Monitoring cloud migration and ensuring system reliability and availability
- Customizing and developing monitoring dashboards (Splunk, Dynatrace)
- Participating in active troubleshooting, incident management, and performing root cause analysis (RCA)
- Packaging, deploying, and automating CI/CD processes using DevOps tools (UCD, Jenkins, Maven, SonarQube, Chef, Ansible, Puppet)
- Scripting for automation (Linux Bash, Windows)

Requirements:

Required Skills:
- 8-10 years overall experience in IT/Software Engineering
- Proficient in Java (must) and Python (3-4 yrs)
- Experience with automated testing tools (JMeter, Junit, Mockito, Postman)
- Proficient with source control management tools (GIT or SVN)
- Experience with public cloud (esp. AWS)
- Strong understanding of cloud migration best practices focusing on reliability and availability
- Hands-on experience with SRE implementation and metrics improvement
- Experience with monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace) and dashboard customization
- Familiar with DevOps automation tools (UCD, Jenkins, Maven, SonarQube, Chef, Ansible, Puppet)
- Automation scripting (Linux Bash, Windows)
- Ability to diagnose and optimize software for reliability
- Knowledge of incident management frameworks and tools (ServiceNow, Jira Service Desk)
- Proactive in documenting tribal knowledge
- Experience in conducting incident triage and RCAs

Nice to Have:
- Skilled in diagnosing technical problems, debugging, and proposing creative solutions
- Experience in providing alternatives and estimates for fixes or automations
- Ability to juggle multiple and shifting priorities
- Familiarity with modern RDBMS or NoSQL: Postgres, MySQL, DB2, Oracle, MongoDB, Cloudant
