We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sr. Manager, Legal and Corporate Affairs to join a leading global company in the premium spirits and wine industry. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the legal and corporate affairs strategy for a key market in Asia Pacific.About the Role:You will be responsible for all legal & compliance matters, including commercial, corporate, contracting, litigation, compliance and intellectual property (including counterfeiting) legal issues and following up their implementation within the affiliate. They shall also lead the corporate & industry affairs strategy for the company focusing on industry regulatory agenda and fostering positive reputation for alcohol in society. This position is reporting into the Pernod Ricard Japan CEO, for the Corporate Affairs part, and to the PRJ Finance & Operations Director for the legal part, with an indirect reporting line to the APAC Management Entity Legal & Public Affairs Director.Key Responsibilities:•Legal Compliance, Discipline & Empowering Organization: oTo review contracts and also, where required, to work with external counsels to review, draft contracts and agreements to protect the company's interests.oEnsure the company adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and corporate governance standards in Japan as well as global practices followed by the Group.oThis includes rolling out Group's global compliance initiatives (e.g. Partner Up or Gifts & Hospitality Policy) in Japan.oWorking closely with Internal Control Manager on Compliance Roadshows (upskilling our staff) through hosting at least 2 annual workshops or during townhall - legal compliance (eg: data privacy / falsifying documents / anti-trust laws etc).oAssist in the preparation and filing of necessary corporate documents and oversee compliance with corporate governance requirements.oManage legal disputes and litigation involving the company, working with external counsel when necessary.oManage investigations and/or concerns raised by regulatory authorities.oIdentify legal risks and provide guidance to management on risk mitigation strategies.oWhen necessary work with Group IP to Protect and manage the company's intellectual property rights, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.oStay updated on changes in local laws and regulations affecting the company's industry and ensure compliance.oManage relationships with external law firms and consultants, as well as coordinate legal activities with other departments.oAdvise on employment law matters, including contracts, terminations, and workplace policies. Labor law compliance, in collaboration with PRJ HR director.oAssist in due diligence processes for mergers, acquisitions, or other corporate transactions.•Corporate Affairs: oEngage with government agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and advocate for company's interest (Eg: JWSIA - Japan Wines and Spirits Importers' Association). Support and follow-up on industry lead lobbying initiatives to protect the interest & integrity of the industry in collaboration with other industry colleagues. Work with APAC CA team on actions required by APISWA (Asia Pacific International Spirits and Wines Alliance).oMaintain strong corporate image, strengthen relationship with Trade and country Chambers and maintain strong visibility to optimize sustainable growth opportunities Eg: EBC, French Chamber / British Chamber / EU Chamber).oSupporting MD and be the legal lead / liaison with respective key stakeholders to manage company crisis either triggered by government political / trade policies, brands related, NGO's or other external parties which would affect the industry and / or organization.Qualifications, Experience & Skills Required:•Education: Bachelor Degree in Law, Social Sciences or other relevant fields.•Languages: Fluent in English and Japanese.•Professional Experience & Know-how: oMinimum 5 years experiences in FMCG or MNC in similar roles.oProject management skills.oStrong communication, key stakeholder management and collaboration skills.oAutonomous with strong networking capability.•Functional Competencies: oStrong communication and presentation skills to effectively work with internal stakeholders.oGood negotiation and influencing skills, systematic thinking and practical mindset.•Personal & Interpersonal Skills: oStrong team player, service-oriented, and problem solver.Working Relationships:You will collaborate internally with management team members and HQ/ME colleagues, and externally with Government, Foreign trade/government offices (eg JWSIA, NTA), and Legal agencies.If you are a driven legal professional looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic global environment, we encourage you to apply.
