Internal Job Title: System Administrator
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Position Summary

As a System Administrator in our Bahamas Service Delivery group you will be responsible for configuring, virtualizing, managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure of CBN deployed solutions for our Bahamian government customers. In this position you will provide ongoing support and tune and optimize system performance to ensure they remain highly available, reliable, and secure.

Responsibilities

• System Administration : Install, configure, virtualize, and maintain servers, networks, and other IT infrastructure components. Leverage automation tools to enhance outcomes.
• Performance Monitoring and Tuning : Monitor system performance, identify issues, and optimize performance.
• Security Management : Implement and manage security measures to protect systems and databases from unauthorized access and threats.
• Backup and Recovery : Develop and implement backup and recovery plans to ensure data protection and availability.
• Troubleshooting and Support : Provide technical support for system including troubleshooting and resolving problems.
• Documentation : Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system and network configurations, changes, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology (or a related field) or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
• Certifications: CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or similar certifications are assets.
• Knowledge: System administration principles, database management principles, network protocols, security best practices.
• Experience: 4-8 years of experience in system administration with database exposure.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Competencies:  Organizational skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to identifying and solving issues.

• Software : Apache, Tomcat
• Virtualization : VMware, JVM

• Deployment/Configuration : Any of the following - Puppet, Terraform, Ansible, Bicep, Helmchart
• SQL and Scripting : SQL, Python, PowerShell, Bash
• Security : Active Directory, Kerberos, LDAP, Bitlocker, LUKS
• Tools : Git, OpenSSL, tcpdump, Wireshark, PowerCLI, Sysinternals Suite, Reporting Tools

Mandatory Requirements

• Language(s): Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Physical Activities: Ability to lift/carry up to 25lbs
• Work Hours: Ability to work on-call rotation that includes overnight/weekends (potentially)
• Travel: Ability to travel internationally (passport required) approx. 2-6 weeks/year
