Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 76 year old lady living in the Wenvoe area of Vale of Glamorgan. I was a nurse my whole life and loved doing it. I am a kind and friendly lady with a good sense of humor. I love to sing and dance and my favourite songs to sing are 40s, 50s and 60s music. I enjoy attending singing classes and watching clips on YouTube of people singing. I like socialising and talking about my past experiences of being a nurse and going out to the clubs in Cardiff. I have Alzheimer’s and would like a PA who can assist me in going to social activities.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the job is to support me at my home and out in the community.

HOURS OF WORK

18 hours per weekend, Saturday and Sunday shifts during the day, 8 hour shifts.

Additional hours on occasion to cover holiday and sickness.

RATES OF PAY

£12.30 per hour

Includes double pay on bank holidays

TASKS INVOLVED

Personal Care and toileting
Dressing and undressing
Preparation of meals
Assisting with light household duties such as laundry, cleaning, dusting etc
Accompanying me to attend social outings and community activities
Take me shopping occasionally to M&S
Taking me to the hairdressers

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

Female is preferred due to the nature of intimate personal care
Reliability and punctuality is essential
Someone who is trustworthy and friendly
A mature and confident individual who can clearly communicate
An understanding of dementia will be beneficial but not essential to this role
You must respect the confidentiality of working in someone’s homes, closely with them and their family
Preferably a car driver
Willing to work in the home of an employer who smokes

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
