We are seeking an internal or external applicant to join our Wind Engineering Team as a Wind Engineer – Buildings and Structures in our Guelph, ON office. Remote applicants are not being considered at this time.

 

This a technically focused role that requires you to put the client first and to have a sense of ownership over the projects you work on:

 

  • Client First: Working with our clients and your colleagues at RWDI to solve challenging engineering problems related to wind loads and effects on structures.
  • Technical Focus: Consulting on the wind loading and response of buildings and structures including cladding loads, structural loads, motion, and snow loading.
  • Ownership Mentality: Taking ownership over the planning and coordination of all technical aspects of assigned projects including wind tunnel model design, design of experiments, communication of results to clients through reports and presentations, ensuring that we are hitting our internal and external milestones.

 

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor or Master Level Engineering Degree in Civil/Structural, Mechanical, or Aerospace with focus on wind engineering, bluff body aerodynamics, snow loading, and/or structural dynamics.
  • A passion for wind effects on structures.
  • Foundation in fluid-structure interaction, bluff body aerodynamics, and/or structural dynamics.
  • Experience with experimental methods (e.g., wind tunnel, water flume, instrumentation, etc.).
  • Innovation mindset that is not afraid to challenge the status quo.
  • As an engineering consulting company, we are driven by our client first and client focused mindset
  • Comfort with scientific computing/data science (e.g. Python, Matlab) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the design of structures, knowledge and application of wind and snow sections of building codes (i.e., NBCC, ASCE-7).
  • An aptitude for practical problem solving and proven ability to successfully meet deadlines.
  • Professional Engineering designation in the Province of Ontario, or eligible to gain designation in 2-4 years.
  • Willingness to pursue other related accreditations as required.
