Cypress Creek Hospital features individual units for adolescents and adults and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. We currently have an opportunity for a PRN Certified Spanish Interpreter.

The Interpreter conducts medical and general interpreting/translating services of oral and/or written communications for staff, patients, and their families. Assesses and monitors patients' understanding of information conveyed. Records and monitors interpretation activities according to hospital and department standards.  May be required to translate written documents.  This position requires providing service to Adults, Older Adults and Adolescents in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional /developmental age of the individual served.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assess and comprehend the original message and render it in the target language without omissions, additions, or distortions.
• Take notes during an interpretation assignment to ensure accuracy of the information given.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED, some college in related field preferred.
• Spanish Interpreting certification required.
• Minimum two (2) years related experience in a medical/hospital setting.
• M ust possess ability to communicate orally, telephonically, and in writing.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player.
• Completion of CPR and HWC (Handle with Care) training which may be obtained during new hire orientation.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
