Job Description

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, House Parents are responsible for providing a safe and nurturing home for children. Our House Parents care for and supervise children aged 0-12 on a 24-hour basis.
The children in our home may have experienced trauma and have often been in unsafe and unhealthy situations. House Parents create an environment that promotes safety, support, trust, and respect. Our homes promote healthy and therapeutic relationships and programming. House Parent also supervise and provide guidance for our Children Support Workers.
The primary role of the House Parent is to implement the homes program making the childrens stay as positive as possible, duties include:
Ensure the proper care and safety of the children;
Participate in the planning and implementation of structured activities for children;
Supervise children during all daily activities, including meals, bedtimes, etc.;
De-escalate situations and mediate during conflicts with children;
Respond to the emotional needs of children in crisis;
Document daily interactions;
Schedule and/or attend Dental, Physician, Optometry and immunization appointments when required;
Ensure a safe and secure environment by following policies and procedures;
Provide transportation as needed;
Maintain the household standards for cleanliness, nutrition, and the effective use of the household budget;
Maintain a high standard of health and safety procedures;
Provide supervision and guidance to support staff as needed;
Report any issues or incidents to the Program Co-ordinator;
The House Parents report accurate and necessary information to ensure proper reporting and processes, these include:
Document incidents;
Daily shift documentation and overview;
Keep and accurate logbook of activities;
Prepare and implement monthly meal plans;
Household budgeting;
Daily, weekly and monthly required documentation submitted in a timely manner
Other duties as required
