Reporting to the Program Director, the Instructional Designer is responsible for the design, development, review, and revision of competency-based training programs for BC Corrections, Ministry of Public Safety and the Solicitor General. You help to ensure the training aligns with the strategic directions of JIBC and meets the mandated standards of BC Corrections.
This requires the consistent application of training methodologies in the creation of curriculum materials to support standards, policies, and procedures for provincial correctional officers.
Key responsibilities include developing and updating competency-based curriculum for Corrections Academy programs, as well as working with subject matter experts to identify learning needs, define program/course outcomes, and determine delivery requirements and constraints. Moreover, the Instructional Designer applies sound instructional design and adult education principles in curriculum development, including creating learning resources, teaching activities, and evaluation instruments. They will develop media requirements and learning materials, and edit course manuals and materials.
