Job Description


The Insurance Councils of Saskatchewan (ICS) is seeking an Investigator to join our team. ICS regulates insurance agents, brokers, adjusters, and agencies in Saskatchewan, ensuring a fair, ethical, and professional industry. As the provincial regulator, ICS licenses individuals and businesses, conducts investigations, and ensures compliance with The Insurance Act, The Insurance Regulations, and Bylaws.

Reporting to the Manager of Compliance, the Investigator will play a key role in investigations, regulatory enforcement, and ensuring adherence to applicable laws. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex investigations.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct fair and objective investigations into compliance matters
Plan and conduct interviews using various techniques
Collect, analyze, and assess evidence, including contracts and financial records
Prepare investigative reports outlining findings, analysis, and recommendations
Recommend enforcement actions based on investigative findings
Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, including complainants, law enforcement, and industry professionals
Collaborate with the Manager and Legal Counsel to determine appropriate action
Stay informed on relevant legislation, investigative techniques, and regulatory best practices

Key Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of investigative principles and procedures
Knowledge of the rules of natural justice and procedural fairness
Ability to conduct complex investigations and evaluate evidence
Strong written and verbal communication skills
You will be fair, impartial, and objective, ensuring all investigations are conducted with integrity
You will be confident and composed, capable of handling contentious and complex issues

Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in law, police studies or related field
Significant experience in investigation and enforcement
