Manufacturing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Assistant Qualifications

• Associate degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Industrial Safety, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
• 1–3 years’ experience in an industrial/manufacturing EHS support role.
• Basic understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations and industrial safety practices.
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite; EHS management systems experience is a plus).
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (walking manufacturing floor, climbing ladders, wearing PPE).

Manufacturing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Assistant Preferred Skills

• OSHA 30-hour certification.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 standards.

Job Title: Manufacturing EHS Assistant

Manufacturing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Assistant Position Summary

• Supports the EHS Manager and plant leadership in implementing and maintaining programs that ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace
• Focuses on supporting factory operations, conducting safety inspections, maintaining regulatory documentation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices.

Manufacturing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Assistant Key Responsibilities:

EHS Program Support

• Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific EHS policies and procedures.
• Support and track compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local/state environmental regulations.
• Help coordinate plant-wide initiatives like emergency drills, fire extinguisher training, and safety campaigns.

Safety Inspections and Audits

• Perform routine inspections of equipment, work areas, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use.
• Identify unsafe behaviors and conditions, and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist during third-party EHS audits and agency inspections.

Incident Management

• Support incident investigations for injuries, near-misses, spills, and property damage.
• Maintain detailed incident logs and track corrective actions through completion.
• Help analyze incident trends and prepare summary reports for leadership.

Training and Employee Communication

• Schedule, track, and help deliver required safety trainings (e.g., lockout/tagout, forklift safety, chemical handling).
• Maintain accurate training records for all employees.
• Support onboarding safety orientation for new hires.
• Create safety bulletins, posters, and toolbox talk materials.

Environmental Compliance

• Assist in waste management programs including hazardous waste handling and recycling efforts.
• Help maintain records for air emissions, water discharges, and waste shipments.
• Monitor chemical storage and labeling compliance (e.g., SDS management).

Administrative Duties

• Maintain organized records of inspections, permits, trainings, and audits.
• Support preparation of regulatory reports (OSHA 300 logs, EPA reports, etc.).
• Order and manage inventory of safety supplies and PPE.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing floor and office split (approx. 70% on manufacturing floor).
• May involve occasional work outdoors and exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and hazards.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.

Manufacturing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Assistant Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30/8am-4:30/5pm
