Closing: Position Summary
Production Operations Manager - River Campus Holland College of Arts and Media Full-Time Primary Responsibilities - Coordinates, supervises and performs technical theatre activities for the Holland College of Arts and Media (HCAM) at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus, in cooperation with the Conservatory of Theatre and Dance and the Department of Music, a 951-seat proscenium theatre, a 190-seat black box theatre, a 214-seat music recital hall, as well as other non-traditional performance and meeting spaces
- Assists with technical needs for visual arts exhibitions in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum
- Assists with contract negotiations for rentals and technical requirements
- Supervises and participates in the implementation of technical requirements for major rentals, visiting guest artists, and residency activities, including light hangs, load-ins, class (dance), rehearsals, sound checks, strikes, and load-outs
- Schedules facilities maintenance of River Campus performance spaces with facilities management, including buildings and equipment service
- Coordinates the annual River Campus events calendar with the Front of House Operations Manager
- Hires and manages HCAM students and locally-hired crew for over 100 performances and events a year
- Coordinates activities among and between resident ensembles and renting companies
- Performs stagecraft tasks in areas of lighting, rigging, sound, projection, scenery, physical setup, and goods
- Coordinates and assists with technical needs for conferences and meetings in various River Campus facilities, including meeting rooms, classrooms, and non-traditional spaces
- Assists HCAM faculty with the technical needs of in-house productions and academic activities when appropriate
- Purchases, maintains, and controls River Campus production inventory
- Submits work orders for River Campus beyond academics
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma and 4 years of professional experience as a stagehand OR Bachelor's Degree in theatre, focus in technical theatre, performance arts, or a closely related field
- Knowledge of the visual arts
- Advanced stagecraft skills in the areas of lighting, sound, set construction, projection, video, and stage management
- Knowledge of implementation of contractual requirements for touring operations
- Knowledge of and ability to implement safety in the workplace, including rigging, mechanical lifts (the pit), personnel lifts, pyrotechnics, and electrics
- Superior personnel management skills, including hiring, scheduling, and training of full-time and part-time staff
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills while working independently with minimal supervision and as a team player
- Physical strength and dexterity to manage the physical rigors of stage work, including climbing, lifting, carrying, and hauling
- Willingness to work irregular and flexible hours
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain positive under stressful conditions
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
