Summer Student Term Position - Bedford Campus

Join the Northwood team this summer 2025!

We are looking for dynamic individuals to be a part of our team at the Bedford Campus for the following position:

• Gardener in Community Recreation & Wellness

Positions Details:

Length of the term: 8 weeks

Number of hours: 70 hours bi-weekly (Varied Shifts)

Salary: $16.30 per hour

Start Date: June 2, 2025

End Date : July 27, 2025

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

• Grade 11 or higher
• Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act(1). , and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
• Must have interest in working in Long Term Care
• Knowledge or experience in gardening

Responsible to the Manager, Community Recreation and Wellness,

Tasks/Responsibilities:

• Support seniors and newcomers to plant, grow and harvest vegetables in a community garden that is fully accessible.
• Tool shed inventory, cleaning, maintenance.
• Maintaining garden beds by feeding and mulching plants.
• Weeding beds and ensuring proper health of plants.
• Pruning trees, shrubs, plants, etc.
• Engaging with park participants, clients, community. Liaison for community garden workshops.
• Create and distribute Community garden weekly information email and posters.
• Assist with the business aspect of running a community garden such as finances, marketing, communication, etc.
• Ensure policies and procedures are up to date and being adhered too.
